Skuld, a leading marine insurance provider, is pleased to announce the appointment of Gregory Thomas as Executive Vice President Commercial P&I. Thomas will assume overall responsibility for Skuld's operations in the offshore, fixed premium, and yacht markets. The promotion also sees Thomas joining Skuld's management board.

Thomas, who joined Skuld in 2008, has been responsible for developing the insurer's Offshore portfolio. In his new role with overall responsibility for commercial P&I the aim is to harness the momentum that Skuld has in the three commercial P&I sectors to create a unified position where Skuld is seen as the leading provider of commercial P&I products to the global market place.

Commenting on the appointment, Skuld CEO-elect, Ståle Hansen, said: "I'm extremely happy that Greg has agreed to take on this new and important role on the management board. His reputation for service excellence is second to none and commercial P&I is an exciting step in this development. He leaves an excellent legacy in Singapore and we will ensure this continues for staff, clients and contacts. At the same time it is good to welcome him back to Norway, and I know his contribution will be immediate and valuable."

Thomas added: "This is a very exciting opportunity to capitalise on all of the great work that Skuld has done these past years in developing its appetite for commercial P&I, the yacht portfolio and the fixed portfolio have been great additions to the Skuld range of products and the aim from our side is to be the very best provider of cover. We have an excellent team of people in Skuld who enjoy an outstanding reputation for service and understanding and I am sure that with their assistance and dedication Skuld can achieve all of its goals for commercial P&I growth."

While the role is global, Thomas will be based in Norway and will divide his time between Oslo and London, while maintaining close contact with other Skuld offices around the world.

The appointment takes effect on 15 February, the same day that Ståle Hansen completes his transition to CEO, taking over from Douglas Jacobsohn, being the culmination of a process begun and announced in the middle of last year.

At the same time, Hansen has appointed Kristian Løberg as CFO; he is currently Senior Vice President, Head of Corporate Accounts in Skuld. Løberg joined Skuld in October 2013, having previously been a senior manager at Deloitte.

Following the appointment of Thomas and Løberg, from 15 February the Skuld management board will comprise:

  • Claes Lindh, EVP Marketing
  • Lars Dueled, EVP P&I Operations
